Final assessment

Throughout the school year I've had my ups and downs, but I'm pretty sure that my work this year as been outstanding. I may not have completed all of my assignments on time but I have completed roughly 19/24 assignments to the best of my abilities which is about 79%. The reason why that number isn't 100 is because I have had a lot of trouble with some of the assignments, like, for example the assignment where I had to choose a song and write to how it relates to me, I had trouble with this one because I am not good at realizing how I feel, so if i hear a song I like, I just know I like it, but I don't really know why, and for the relating to a real life experience to something that happened in rwanda, well, my life is really boring and I haven't really done anything relatable to, well anything. However I have done most of the assignments, and I few of them I like to think, I knocked out of the park, The links are here: Persona project and a short story:
project. For most of my assignments I worked probably 1 hour or so, but others I did in about 20 minuets because they had to be done. I think that my writing skill has increased throughout the school year due to the fact that I have been taking this class more seriously. In the beginning I thought that this class was a lazy class where I could slack off and chill with my "homies", I have never been so wrong. It took me a while to realize that this was an important class in my learning process. I think my writing needs great improvement because I have a really hard time putting my thought to text, even though I think I have pretty good ideas, even though I can't necessarily communicate them to the best of my abilities but I need work Expressing my ideas.

My commenting could use a lot of work I only have commented 43 times and my comments have been  helpful, for example this comment that I made in ryleys post was pretty good:

But ultimately I am scared to comment on other people's blogs because I am scared that people are going to be mad at me for telling them what to do.

I believe my self regulation has greatly improved since the beginning  of the year, still playing bubble games but only at the beginning of class and I still manage to get sidetracked but I always come out on top. The reason why I messed 7 classes is because I was sick. Sometimes my actions affect other people because I distract them by talking to them, but sometimes they talk to me first, so they are equally to blame. This semester I learned that I have a really hard time expressing myself in fear that I will be rejected, because in the long run all I want to do is fit in, the way I'm going to change this is by being less shy and putting myself out there.

I think my genius hour was a failure because I was completely disorganized and I knew what I wanted to say but, I had a hard time expressing my ideas and talking in front of people. The reason I chose the topic I did is because I really like minecraft and I kinda wanted to crack it open and see how it worked and modding it really helped me understand the game more. I was not really effective during the school time given because I did most of my work at home were I watched T.V or something so I wasn't so distracted. I think the presentation was terrible because I knew what I wanted to say but couldn't communicate it well under the pressure. From the comments I learned that I'm not good at presenting. I learned that I can be really responsible when given the opportunity and if i care about it I will learn a lot and do a good job. The reason I come to school is because I don't want to be that homeless guy on the street begging for money because school is lame and I wasn't smart enough to read the fine print on my hiring papers, not realizing that it was an unpaid job meaning that my house got repossessed causing me to work a double shift so I don't have time for my wife which means me catching her cheating on me, causing me to go mad, check into a looney bin and become unable to hold down a job due to my addiction to anti-psychotic medication making me beg on the street corner for my next fix, but seeing how I can only get this particular drug from the mental institute,I rob a bank and plea insanity, but they don't but it and I become big mac's bitch.

Overall I would like an 80%

Genius hour

I think that my genius hour could have gone better, I knew exactly what I wanted to say, but when I got up there I totally forgot everything I wanted to say and I assumed that everybody knew what I was talking about and neuf was basically talking me through the whole thing. It's a good thing we weren't marked on this because I think I would have failed.

What I think of class

When I first started this class I thought the purpose of this class was to take a different approach to learning. I think my responsibility in this class is to do your work and do it to the best of your ability. I think by using the wikis and the blogs you were trying to create a community of people teaching other people and communicating their ideas. I now see that the point of this class was to help people who have trouble learning, learn differently. I believe that the learning process is very important, but varies from person to person. My peers have helped my learning by telling me what i did wrong and how to fix it and i think i have helped people in the same way.

Basic human needs

Things I do everyday to survive:

1. Eat - Obviously people cannot survive without food
2. Sleep - The human body can survive longer without food than without sleep
3. Drink - Humans can only last about a week without water

Things I do everyday to feel powerful:

1. I make fun of Michael - Making fun of Michael is the only way to make myself feel smart, that's not to say Michael's not smart, in fact I'm pretty sure that he's smarter than me, but whenever we disagree Michael isn't very good at backing up his ideas and usually has his facts wrong, so I end up winning

Things I do everyday to belong

1. Get dressed - If I show up to school naked, there is no way in hell I'm fitting in, not speaking from experience, just a guess

Things I do everyday to feel free

1. Play Minecraft - In Minecraft there are no rules, you can do anything you want, and it gives you a sense of freedom knowing that you play the way you want to play and nobody can say you're doing it wrong.

Things I do everyday to have fun

1. I play video games - Videogames are fun and I enjoy playing them because I can do whatever I like as long as it's within the confines of the game

An Eye For An Eye (Short Story)

"An eye for an eye", that's what they all say, that's how I live, and it's worked out for me so far. Some people disagree with what I do, they call me a villain, a criminal the "Bad guy", but I think I'm much more than a "Low life criminal" I'm the hero, a vigilante, the only goddamn person in this fucked up world to do what's right and believe in it. Do you know what pisses me off? It's not the government, that's cliche`. No what I really hate are the people, the people who stand by and let bad things happen, not just the people who commit crimes, but the people who stand by with there slaked-jaw gaze doing jack shit about it. It's not the government's fault that people are cowards, but it seems like I'm the only person doing anything about it. It all started one day, when my parents were murdered, but it's not what you think, weren't  leaving the opera when some maniac jumped out from the shadows and killed them, no, nothing like that. I killed them.

My father always told me to fight for what I believe in, I think it's one of those things that parent's just tell you, boy I bet my father regrets telling me that. My dad was a crook, a murderer, thief, etc. He ran a law firm, he was a defense lawyer, because of him rapist, murderers and crooks were back on the streets. Tell me does that make him any better?   I asked him what happens when the people get convicted, "They die" he said,  I said "But everybody dies" He looked at me and said "These people get killed." Killed. These people get killed. That's exactly what he said. So calmly, they get killed, murdered, like it happens every day, and it does, because of him. when I asked him why they die he said "An eye for an eye" I asked him "They get killed because they kill?" he just nodded. "How does that make you any better?" he seemed pretty confused, which was strange because i thought my question was pretty straight forward. "If you let all the people that kill back on the street to kill again, doesn't that mean that you technically killed to?" He looked at me and said "I guess you could look at it that way" and he let out a little laugh. Yes, my dad was an idiot. I looked at him and asked "So, who kills you?" He looked at me panicked. "Why would you ask me that?" Needless to say I got sent to my room. I couldn't sleep, knowing that a murderer was sleeping not two rooms away, so I fought for what I believed in. It's a good thing that I keep a baseball bat beside my bed for intruders, and to me my dad is an intruder. If you really think about it it's my dad's fault, fight for what you believe in, I believe that murderers should get killed, well My dad's screams woke up my mom, she had it coming too. So, I was an orphan by thirteen.

Iv'e moved up since then, there was a doctor, a brain surgeon, he got drunk and killed a patient. So I had a talk with him, show him what it's like to be operated on by a drunk, unfortunately I didn't have anesthetic  or surgery tools, but I had gardening tools. Don't worry It wasn't slow, that's not what i'm about, because they know why their there, and they know why this is happening to them. That's all I want. Another man, killed a nine-year-old girl. He was high as a kite. He had a daughter, she was twenty five. I killed her right in front of him. Sure she wasn't the same age, but he knows what it's like to lose a daughter. The worst part is he didn't care, he just cared about getting high, so I thought i'd help him out, kind of a "Final request". Who knew 30g of "Magic mushrooms" injected directly into your heart would kill you. Well you cant really blame me, i'm not so good with drugs. There was still one person, that one person that I could't get, the one man that haunted me for years, but I could never kill him, but today he will finally get what's coming.

Before you flip that switch, before I die, I hope what i'm about to say will make you think. You asked me what my final words were, here they are. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind,  you cant see the sin, but it's still in your mind, it's a disease you can't cure, a disease called sin, you just need to fight, for what you believe in.

Rwanda Theme

The story i chose to relate to the topics of rwanda is the novel 1984 By George Orwell.

I chose this novel because it is about a man named "Big Brother" who has total control over the country and they use propaganda to make you think that "Big Brother" is da bomb, and if you even think about overthrowing the government they will arrest you and take you to jail.

I chose this novel because it relates to propaganda because of the posters posted round saying "Big Brother Is watching you"

Another theme is creation of outsiders because there is a group of people called "the brotherhood" that try to overthrow the government

Here is a video giving a brief overveiw of the novel:

Rwanda

1.Cause of hatred: the Belgians made one side (Tutsi) more powerful than the other (Hutu).  The Belgians did this to get diamonds and money, they used this as a distraction so they wouldn't know they were being robbed

2.Reasons for hatred: The Tutsi were given power to protect the Belgians and they abused their power and the Hutu got mad and they were tired of being abused (being raped, not being allowed to go to school with the Tutsi, for example)

3. Propaganda was used to spread hatred: the Hutu used the radio to rally each other and tell them  when they would have their rebellion

4. Reason for Hatred: the Hutu were sick of being treated like second class citizens

5. Similarities in history: Rome wherein the barbarians were mad at the Romans and they killed them all by cutting off supplies to Rome - and then the Romans would take the gladiators that had lost in their arenas and sold them to Romans as food.

6. How the movie made me feel: Ashamed because all those people turned there backs and didn't help the. I would like to think that if i was there i would help them, but in reality i would probably leave to save my own life.

*I know this is bad but I will be back to fix it later
