I chose this novel because it is about a man named "Big Brother" who has total control over the country and they use propaganda to make you think that "Big Brother" is da bomb, and if you even think about overthrowing the government they will arrest you and take you to jail.
I chose this novel because it relates to propaganda because of the posters posted round saying "Big Brother Is watching you"
Another theme is creation of outsiders because there is a group of people called "the brotherhood" that try to overthrow the government
Here is a video giving a brief overveiw of the novel:
i must say, this struck some interest for me due to the fact that i never heard of that particular novel. Great job spencer also great video
ReplyDeletegood job there spenny i wish did better on mine
ReplyDeleteSpencer have you read this Novel or just seen the posters in other classes? It is a very famous story. You have correctly the use of propaganda and violence/fear being used to control mass populations. How do you feel about this idea? Do you think you are influenced by any propaganda? What kind? How is our government/business sector trying to influence you? (Wish the video worked for me)
ReplyDeleteI Have not read the story, but it is on my to do list, I have it at home and I am going to read it.
DeleteI feel like propaganda is a very effective method to control people was well as fear however it is cruel to manipulate the uneducated like that.
I am very influenced by propaganda, I consider commercials to be propaganda because they are very one-sided and I am very influenced by them, for example if I see a McDonald's commercial I really want McDonalds.
Spencer, That was awesome and the book, was amazing, it explains a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think you made a good connection, but for the people who don't know anything about the movie/book, describe things a little more?
